Girls night with Plant Magic! Plant colored patterns on textile
This workshop is an inspiring introduction to plant dyeing where you will learn to create beautiful patterns on textiles. The focus is on tie dyeing, a technique that enables the direct transfer of color pigments from flowers and other natural materials to fabric. All without harmful chemicals! The colorful results can be varied endlessly and can be likened to a kind of updated batik, with marble and flower-like patterns. We are inspired by the patterns around us: the marbling of stones, the foliage of trees, lichens, bark and flowers. The technique is well suited to give new life to a garment that has, for example, been stained or washed out. Before the workshop, you will receive a small compendium with recipes and relevant information to be able to easily continue working on your own. Schedule: -Joint coffee and introduction. -Brief history and contemporary orientation of the subject. -Basic information about natural colors and different techniques. -We analyze and look at different examples together to understand how they were created. -Demonstration of tie dyeing. - We color together! Each participant gets to choose the color and pattern themselves and is guided through the process.

This evening is for women only and you need to be a Gofrendly member, free to download their app and create an account. Bring non-sore clothes and 1-3 smaller garments, textiles or yarn that you wish to dye. (No large tablecloths or duvets due to lack of space) It is also possible to buy white accessories in silk to be dyed, a scrunchie or a small scarf. For larger groups, the arrangement is flexible and can be varied according to the wishes of the participants. The workshop can also be held at other locations, but please contact the course leader before booking to discuss the possibilities. If there are more than 8 participants, any white accessories need to be pre-ordered.
I am a fashion designer and artist and run the brand ALICE FINE, focused on plant dyeing. My interest in vegetable dyeing began after a number of years in the fashion industry when I decided to research sustainable ways of dyeing textiles. I wanted to work artisanally on a small scale. And I wanted to show that it is possible to create strong vibrant colors and patterns, without chemicals. Working in symbiosis with organic materials and textiles becomes for me a way to question production processes, consumer society and the value of a garment. The results are unique plant-dyed garments and objects full of inherent power from nature. I teach natural dyeing because I want to share this magical world full of color that we have around us. It is also a good way to give new life to an old garment that has lost its color or become stained.
