Långholmen - a cellular history (Södermalm)
Långholmen has a rich history. In 1724, among other things, a spinning house was established here, a women's prison that was in operation until 1825. A former ore farm was later expanded to accommodate another 200 inmates. The prison was built and gets 127 cells for male prisoners the same year the women move out. The city tour gives you an insight into the daily life of the prisoners while you hear stories from the days of the spinning house. You can see, among other things, the Great Guard, the walls of the Central Prison and the director's residence. On the western part of the island you will see allotments, Karlhäll's farm and some summer fun at Sofieberg. With many pictures from the past. The city tour ends at Kronohäktet.

Authorized tourist guide and Health care guide. I organize Forest Baths and City Walks in Stockholm, Uppsala and Västerås. I love combining experiences with the pulse of the city and the peaceful atmosphere of nature. Walking from a noisy city with many impressions one day and crawling through bushes and grass and hugging trees the next allows me to replenish my store of energy.
