Mushroom safari - pick good autumn mushrooms
Join mushroom guru Karita and her mushroom consultant colleagues Hanna or Lena on a forest safari. Young and old alike, everyone appreciates learning more about the forest's gold. Karita likes to share her best mushroom spots and says it's never too late to find a bargain. The best mushroom season is often after a bit of wet weather in September and October. During this lovely autumn safari, you will learn to distinguish which mushrooms are edible and which to avoid, as well as to find the right grounds for different types of mushrooms. You can also get tips on how to improve your chances if you want to find something special. Taking the children out into the forest is a hot tip for those who want to find mushrooms. So if you have children or grandchildren in the family or among friends, ask if they want to come along. See you in the forest! Depending on how the weather has been, and how the availability of mushrooms is, the safari is organized in different forests 20–100km outside Stockholm C. You will receive a message no later than 11 days before, with information about the location and how to get there by public transport, but expect that on Sundays you may need your own car. You will also be informed whether to bring your own coffee and snacks.

We start by looking at and feeling a number of edible fungi and their confusion fungi and go through their characteristics for half an hour. Then we hike in the forest and pick our own mushrooms for a couple of hours and then gather at an agreed place for a review of our own finds. Bring your own knife and basket and any coffee. Paper bags (NOT PLASTIC) are great to bring so you can sort and dry the mushrooms
The location of the safari can vary within 10 miles from Stockholm C and it will be announced no later than 11 days before, so that there is the possibility of rebooking. You can also find Karita's best tips on YouTube: https://youtu.be/F4TFzOS1rXE
My interest is edible mushrooms and mushroom cooking. The arrangement is adapted to the participants, but my colleagues and I usually go out into the forest the day before and pick a set of demonstration mushrooms to show what is available at that time so that everyone can feel real mushrooms during a review of the most common eatable mushrooms - and their non eatable look alikes.
